Opening your heart and your home to a young person from another culture is an unforgettable experience that will extend well beyond the term of the exchange program.
Reference checks, criminal background checks and home inspections are required of all host family applicants per State Department regulations. Host families need to be able to provide suitable living and study space as well as a nurturing and friendly environment with regular meals and routines for their exchange student. Host families come in many forms including, “traditional families”, retirees, singles, young couples, etc.
We encourage our host parents to incorporate their students as family members in their home rather than gusts. Students should blend in with the family routine, participate in family chores, activities and outings. All iE-USA students are covered by an insurance package that includes liability, luggage and health insurance.
